TypeScript enhances JavaScript with types, classes and interfaces. Some people think that is the problem with JavaScript. It’s not. The problem with JavaScript is not that it is a dynamically typed prototype based object-oriented language without classes. That is actually JavaScript’s strength. The problem is that it is a poorly designed language, filled with many hidden land mines awaiting the unsuspecting developer.</p>

Here’s the deal, I like DurandalJS. Though, I’m not going to lie, I really like AngularJS as well. These two technologies compete in many respects as they both seem to tackle the same problem. What problems are these frameworks trying to tackle? I have made a diagram of what I see to be the core developments in client side technologies, and after you view this, I will talk about where I see Angular and Durandal fitting in (note that there are a myriad of other useful frameworks that do storage, pub/sub eventing, animation, data-binding, AMD pattern ala requireJS, and a slew of other things, but this represents what I believe is the focus on today’s client-side development).</p>

The idea is to demonstrate how to write a typical, non-trivial CRUD application using AngularJS. To showcase AngularJS in its most advantageous environment we’ve set out to write a simplified project management tool supporting teams using the SCRUM methodology. The sample application tries to show best practices when it comes to: folders structure, using modules, testing, communicating with a REST back-end, organizing navigation, addressing security concerns (authentication / authorization).</p>
