Direct debitsPrivate preview
Let external parties debit your financial account with ACH or Bacs.
You can let external parties debit your financial account with ACH (US) or Bacs (UK) by sharing your bank account details with them. They can take single or recurring payments from your account.
Share your account details
To let others debit your financial account, find your account details on the Treasury page in the Account details section of the Stripe Dashboard, and share them with the party initiating the debit.
When the debit settles, Stripe sends an email notification that money was debited from your financial account. You can view the transaction on the Treasury page in the Dashboard.
Manage ACH debit enablement (US only)
ACH debits are enabled by default for USD financial accounts. You can disable or re-enable ACH debits from the Dashboard.
- On the Treasury page, click the USD financial account.
- Click More.
- Click Enable ACH debits or Disable ACH debits.
View and manage direct debits (UK only)
If you have a UK financial account, go to the Direct debits page in the Dashboard to see all the direct debits set up on your financial account.
Click Cancel next to a direct debit to prevent that party from debiting your financial account again.
Dispute a debit
The dispute process depends on which payment network you use.
Dispute an ACH debit (US)
If you don’t recognize an ACH debit transaction, you can dispute it in the Dashboard within one business day of the settlement date.
To dispute a debit transaction:
- On the Treasury page, select the debit transaction.
- Click Dispute.
- Click View dispute to review the details of the disputed transaction.
To dispute a debit transaction later than one business day after its settlement date, contact support at [email protected].
Dispute a Bacs debit (UK)
If you don’t recognize a Bacs debit transaction, contact support at [email protected] to dispute it. There’s no Dashboard flow for disputing Bacs debits.
