The Reddit Connector delivers audience data to Reddit Ads, enabling you to create Custom Audiences for targeting in Reddit ad campaigns.

Overview

The connector pushes your audience data to Reddit as customer-list Custom Audiences. You can create a new audience, deliver into an existing one, or propagate opt-outs that remove users from every Reddit audience you deliver to.

Requirements

Account access

  • A Reddit Ads account
  • A Reddit account with access to the business and ad account where audiences will be created (the OAuth grant requires the adsread and adsedit scopes)

Supported identifiers

Your data must include at least one of these identifier types, mapped to the corresponding Rosetta Stone attribute: The connector also accepts the generic mobile_id_unique_identifier attribute when its type resolves to one of the identifiers above.
Hashed identifiers must use SHA256 — hashed emails with SHA-1 or MD5 hashes are skipped during delivery. See Hashing PII for Upload for formatting requirements.
Reddit customer lists do not accept phone numbers.

Installation

1

Navigate to the connector

In Narrative, go to Installed Apps and select Reddit Connector.
2

Create a profile

In the Profiles tab, click Add profile and provide:
  • Profile name — a unique name to identify this configuration
  • Profile description (optional) — a note describing the profile’s purpose
Click Create profile. Reddit grants are member-scoped, so there is no organization or account ID to supply up front.
3

Authorize with Reddit

Click Connect to Reddit. A new window opens for you to log into the Reddit account that owns the ad account and click Allow; the grant covers every business and ad account that Reddit account can reach. Narrative polls for the authorization and marks the profile Connected once it lands, so leave the connector page open until it does.
4

Review ad accounts

Expand the profile to see the ad accounts discovered for the authorized account. Click view to list them, or refresh to re-fetch them from Reddit if new ad accounts have been added.

Managing profiles

Each profile carries its own OAuth grant, and the Profiles tab shows the state of each one:
  • Reddit connection — whether the profile holds a valid Reddit grant. Only connected profiles can receive deliveries or back an opt-out connection.
  • Ad accounts — how many ad accounts the grant reached, with view to list them and refresh to re-seed them from Reddit.
  • Profile status — whether the profile is enabled.
  • Delete profile — removes the profile. Its grant goes with it, so any connection relying on it stops delivering.

Delivering audiences

When connecting a dataset to the Reddit Connector, you choose how the audience is created. To connect a dataset of opted-out users instead, see Opt-outs.

New audience

Creates a new customer-list Custom Audience in your Reddit ad account.

Existing audience

Delivers into a Custom Audience that already exists in Reddit.
Reddit does not report match counts back — delivered counts reflect the identifiers submitted to Reddit, not the number Reddit matched.

Audience membership duration

Membership duration is how long a delivered identifier remains active in the destination audience before the destination platform expires it. It is distinct from the dataset’s retention policy (which governs data stored in Narrative) and the interface’s refresh window (which governs how stale the source dataset may get). The connector does not set an expiration on delivered identifiers — Reddit’s customer list API has no membership duration parameter.

Opt-outs

The Opt Out Configuration tab on the connector page connects a dataset of opted-out users to Reddit. Identifiers in the dataset are removed from every Reddit Custom Audience your company delivers to; the connection itself names no ad account and no audience.
1

Open the Opt Out Configuration tab

In Installed Apps, open Reddit Connector and select the Opt Out Configuration tab. The tab lists the datasets currently feeding opt-outs, with the dataset id, dataset name, and connection id for each connection.
2

Connect a dataset

Click Connect opt out dataset. The picker offers datasets that carry at least one identifier column Reddit’s audience delivery reads and that aren’t already wired up as an opt-out source.
3

Confirm the opt-out

A confirmation names the dataset you picked and the connector it applies to. Connecting it opts every identifier in the dataset out of Reddit and cannot be undone, so check the name before you click Accept.
Opt-out connections hang off a Reddit profile that has completed authorization, because the connector uses that profile’s grant to issue the removals. You need at least one connected profile before Connect opt out dataset becomes available.
