Questions, answered.

Everything that usually comes up before you install the desktop app. Still curious? Read the docs, or join the Discord.

It is the same coding agent, in a real workspace. Chat, agent activity, files, Git changes, a terminal, local browser previews, and plans all live in one window, so you can describe a task and review every edit without leaving the app.

No. The agent runtime ships inside the app. Install it, sign in, open a project, and start a chat. If you already use the CLI, both work against the same account and the same projects.

macOS, Windows, and Linux. macOS ships as a DMG you drag to Applications, Windows as an installer, and Linux as a .deb package for Debian and Ubuntu. The installation guide covers each one.

Desktop is currently in beta, so you may still hit bugs or unexpected behavior. Review the actions it takes, keep your work backed up, and keep an eye on model usage and costs. Anything you run into belongs in a GitHub issue.

Yes — sign in with your Command Code account on first launch. Your plan, billing, credits, and usage all live under Settings › Account, and you can refresh account data or sign out from the same place.

It does. Signing in brings your taste packages, skills, and MCP connections with you. Taste learning and connected project context are managed under Settings › Agent, and MCP settings resolve against the active project, so open the right project before testing a project-specific server.

Permission modes. Ask for approval checks with you before edits and commands, Auto-accept edits applies safe changes but still asks before riskier ones, Plan investigates without touching files, and Auto-accept runs normal work without asking each time. Press Shift+Tab in the composer to cycle them.

The app checks for updates in the background and installs them after a restart. You can also grab the latest build from GitHub Releases. Windows preview builds may need to be installed manually while the installer is unsigned.

Open a GitHub issue with your Desktop App version, operating system and architecture, what you did, what you expected, what happened, and a screenshot or the exact error message if you have one. Or come talk it through on Discord.
