APEC economies have diverse national and sectoral laws governing consumer privacy which provide strong protections for consumers around the region.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

APEC has worked to raise standards for privacy and data protection around the region, notably through work on the APEC Privacy Framework and the implementation of the APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) System and the Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) System. By agreeing to a regional privacy framework which aligns with the OECD Guidelines and European privacy regulations, and accounts for unique regional concerns in the Asia-Pacific, APEC has worked to establish high-level standards across all member economies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
