The next generation of Apple Intelligence arrives in macOS 27 Golden Gate, powering an all-new Siri that draws on your personal context to help you get more done, every day. New options help parents create safe digital experiences for kids. And an expansive set of platform improvements makes your Mac better than ever. Here’s a tour of some of our favourite features.

Meet Siri AI
Powered by Apple Intelligence, Siri AI is an entirely new version of Siri that’s more personal, capable and conversational than ever. With broad world knowledge, understanding of your personal context and awareness of what’s on your screen, Siri AI helps you find what you need – whether a confirmation number from an old email or an up-to-date answer on virtually any topic – without pulling you away from what you’re doing. With the dedicated Siri app, you can have a back-and-forth conversation – or revisit past conversations and pick up right where you left off. And use “Write with Siri” to draft from scratch or get feedback on what you’ve written.

The next generation of Apple Intelligence in your apps
Apple Intelligence makes your everyday apps smarter and more useful. Powerful new tools in Photos let you reframe a photo after it’s been taken with Spatial Reframing, expand your shots with the Extend tool and remove even larger objects with the enhanced Clean Up tool. Image Playground offers new ways to create images and the ability to modify them with just a description. Safari supercharges your browsing by automatically organising your tabs by topic, notifying you of changes to webpages (such as price drops) and letting you create new extensions by describing them. And the Shortcuts app can similarly create a shortcut based on your description.

Visual Intelligence is now on Mac, so you can ask Siri AI about virtually anything on your screen via a dedicated keyboard shortcut. Select the specific region you’re curious about – like a part of an image or a PDF – and Siri can answer questions about a product, estimate nutritional info for food and much more.

Do more with Image Playground
Image Playground now lets you create images in virtually any style, including photorealistic. Describe the style you want in natural language, then refine your image simply by describing what you want changed, or by clicking, circling or brushing over objects to move, resize or transform them. And with new integrations, you can use your creations in even more places across your Mac, such as Contact Posters, Keynote slides and Pages documents.

Get some parental peace of mind
macOS is a safe and trusted platform for kids and teens, with powerful new parental controls that help parents more easily manage what content their children can see, who they can communicate with and when they have access to apps. Ask to Browse requires kids to request permission before visiting any new website in Safari. Communication Safety expands its protections to help keep conversations safe. And the Time Allowances feature gives parents more flexible ways to manage the time kids spend in apps across categories and offers guidance based on expert research tailored to a child’s age.

Unlock greater accessibility
Apple Intelligence is now powering accessibility features that users rely on for everyday tasks. VoiceOver delivers richer, more contextual image descriptions for users who are blind or who have low vision, with the ability to ask follow-up questions. Magnifier brings these same visual descriptions to help users view and explore screens and whiteboards with a connected camera. Accessibility Reader delivers a customised reading experience for a wide range of disabilities, with on-demand summaries and built-in translations. And a new on-device transcription feature automatically generates subtitles for videos without captions, and it can translate existing captions into other languages.

An even more refined design
Updates to Liquid Glass ensure exceptional readability with more uniform refraction and improved contrast. A new slider lets you easily customise how Liquid Glass looks, from ultraclear to fully tinted. And uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars and updated window shapes and menu bar icons deliver a more refined experience.

Watch video episodes in Podcasts
The Podcasts app on Mac now supports video, adding a new way to enjoy podcasts, with Picture in Picture, synchronised transcripts and the option to download only audio when you just want to listen.

Improvements everywhere
From faster AirDrop transfers to more relevant Spotlight search suggestions, enhancements throughout macOS 27 make the experience more responsive, reliable and delightful.
