Keep on collecting

Time to gather yourself with these games.

Eventually all collectors run into the problem of space. What to do when you run out of it? Thankfully, that’s not an issue in these games, which offer variety for every kind of discerning collector there is. Whether you like cute monsters, classy cars or courageous heroes, you can open card packs to your heart’s content – and deploy them in different kinds of gameplay, too.

For the free-roaming collector

Pokémon GO was released in 2016, and there are still millions trying to catch ’em all in the groundbreaking AR monster collecting game. The twist here is that players have to walk around in the real world to complete their Pokédex. Pokémon GO is always adding new challenges and events, some unique to different locations, so there’s never a dull moment.

This Zenvo is one of the rarest cars in the game.

With the infinite garage space in Top Drives, you can collect as many classic models and modern supercars as you want, from Ferrari to BMW and everything in between. Collect packs of cards to get more vehicles and test tracks to race them on – because sometimes you just have to see a car hit top speed.

Doctor Doom is hard to get, but very worth it.

The Marvel SNAP card-collecting game has garnered legions of fans for its Snap gameplay mechanic, which keeps card battles fast and feisty, as well as for its heroic theme. After all, who wouldn’t want to build a deck from hundreds of heroes and villains from across the Marvel multiverse? Very few, as this game’s success proves.

For the fantastical collector

The first modern trading card game, released back in 1993, took the leap from tabletop to digital space with Magic: The Gathering Arena. This is all about methodically building your deck of fantastical creatures and spells to best opponents with strategic play. Arena makes it easy to jump in, whether you’re a veteran of this iconic game or a complete newcomer.

For the strategic collector

In Clash Royale, a spin-off of strategy builder Clash of Clans, you build a deck of all your favourite wacky warriors and deploy them in real-time multiplayer battles. Getting the right unique cards, and deciding how they should be organised in a fight, makes this a cartoony collectathon you won’t want to put down.
