AI workflow instructor Raymond CH Hou loves using Notion to manage work, studies, family and life in general. For him, Notion is more than a note-taking app – it’s a complete AI workstation and personal knowledge base that can grow with him. Here, he shares four of his favourite tips for using the app to plan trips.
Embed useful widgets
Unlike a traditional note-taking tool, Notion lets you embed web widgets for access at any time. Set up a dashboard for each trip and add relevant tools such as a currency converter or map. Then, each time you open the dashboard you’ll have real-time data at your fingertips – and be able to do everything from check your budget to plan your itinerary – without having to switch between apps.
How to do it: Type “/embed” on your page, paste your widget address and then adjust the size accordingly.
Grab flight info automatically
You don’t have to keep track of your flights manually anymore! Notion AI automatically scans your Gmail inbox for e-tickets and imports key info such as departure and arrival times, airport name and seat number into an itinerary card. It can even add in boarding gates, luggage carousel numbers and various useful reminders.
How to do it: Once you’ve set up the Gmail connector, tell Notion AI, “Create a page with the latest flight details.” You can also upload a screenshot or PDF and add additional instructions, such as, “Display in table form and add important airport reminders for the trip.”
Choose and share a travel template
If your trip itineraries tend to be similar, you can predesign a Travel Template and let Notion AI set up a dedicated project board for each new date and destination, with a calendar view, idea board and daily budget. Give your travel companions edit permissions on the dashboard so they can view and modify your agenda. To make things even more convenient, Notion helps you track expenses and lets you split bills directly in-app!

Let an AI widget gather information
Ever come across, say, a charming shop or a special drink you don’t want to forget while on your travels? This is where Notion’s Home Screen widget comes in handy! Just call up the Notion AI camera to take a photo or leave a voice note in the moment and let the AI automatically create travel notes and supply additional background data.
How to do it: Tap and hold an empty part of the Home Screen to add the Notion AI widget. When you come across something you want to remember, tell Notion AI that you'd like to organise it into your note of choice.
